SERVING ADULT INDIVIDUALS AND COUPLES

Philosophy & Approach

I believe counseling to be a path toward living life to its fullest potential.
If you are currently experiencing phase of life transitions, relationship challenges, anxiety, depression, feeling stuck in old patterns of thinking and being, or have experienced intimate betrayal trauma or childhood abuse, this may be the right time for you to courageously take steps toward wholeness and vitality. It is through relationships that we are hurt and I believe it’s through safe, supportive relationships that we find healing. I would count it a privilege to come alongside you on your journey. As your therapist, I will create a compassionate space where you will feel understood and be supported to move at your own pace. Together we will explore your story, identify past hurts or trauma, reshape your current patterns, and discover your unrealized potential, empowering you to experience the fullness of life, bringing hope to the future.

I use a holistic approach giving attention to psychological, emotional, relational and spiritual facets of your life. Together we will prioritize and make a plan for forward movement and lasting change. Honoring each person’s individual uniqueness, I use integrative approaches in counseling based on developmental and attachment theories emphasizing Story Informed Trauma Therapy (SITT), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Family Systems, Mindfulness Interventions and EMDR techniques. I approach couples therapy using Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and Restoration Therapy (RT).

Formal Education and Training

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (#C5731). My education includes a Masters of Arts in Counseling from Western Seminary and a Bachelor’s of Science in Apparel Design from Oregon State University. Major areas of study includes: Human Lifespan Development, Family Systems, Trauma and Abuse, Group Counseling, Couples Counseling, Human Sexuality and Addictions Counseling. I am trauma informed through multiple trainings including: Mending the Soul, Expressive Art for survivors of sexual abuse and sexual exploitation, and Attachment and Trauma through the lens of Interpersonal Neurobiology. Additional training includes: Story Informed Trauma Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Emotionally Focused Therapy and Restoration Therapy.

I have presented workshops on: trauma and abuse, and boundaries and attachment. I co-developed a strengths based expressive art curriculum for traumatized youth. I have provided direct services to trafficked youth, and trained and mentored volunteers who served this population. Additionally, I have worked as a teacher, and invested in family support in an educational setting.

Payment for Services:

My fee is $175 for a clinical hour (50 minutes). Payment is made up front for each session by check or credit card on file. Currently, I do not accept insurance. However, I provide my clients with a monthly receipt for submission to insurance companies for out-of-network reimbursement. Limited sliding scale options are available based on need and availability. All appointments will be charged as stated above unless cancellation is made 24 hours prior to the scheduled appointment or if there has been an agreed upon emergency related to cancellation.

A Bit More Personal:

I was raised in a military family, living all over the USA and Europe. I landed in Oregon for college and have called the Northwest home ever since. I have been blessed with two daughters and a son in-law. If I’m not sipping coffee with my daughters or a friend, I will likely be found enjoying the outdoors on my bike or paddle board, or exploring a new hiking trail. Recently, I have pulled some old hobbies off the shelf, enjoying creating with fabric as well as canning the harvest from local orchards and gardens.
