SERVING ADULT INDIVIDUALS, TEENS, AND COUPLES

Philosophy and Approach:

I believe everyone has the ability to succeed and positively cope with stressors in life, but many of us simply need help accessing the necessary tools. I entered the counseling profession with the desire to serve others suffering from damaged relationships and declining self-esteem—and to help them ultimately achieve wellness, freedom and healing. You don’t have to go through this alone. I take a compassionate, genuine and client-centered approach to my work as we pursue changes using a Family Systems/holistic approach to therapy. My couples work is largely rooted in the research of The Gottman Institute in conjunction with Emotionally Focused Therapy techniques.

It has been my honor and privilege to serve adults, teens, families and couples in the Portland community for the last 8 years. As an LMFT, I specialize in working with clients primarily experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, bullying, suicidal thoughts, self-injury, emotional injuries, communication concerns and infidelity.

I aim to provide counseling for clients from all different backgrounds (race, religion, sexual orientation, LGBTQ+, socioeconomic status to name a few.)  I know life can be challenging due to a number of unpredictable factors, ultimately straining our emotional and relational resources. It can be difficult to navigate especially when we’re impacted by trauma, troubling family patterns, in addition to a myriad of other factors. As your therapist, it is my purpose to collaboratively aid you in seeking freedom from isolation and fear. To help you know that you have support and someone is here to help.

My approach is centered on the individual needs of every client I work with, validating the connection between mind, body, relationships, culture and spirit. I hope to create a therapeutic environment that feels safe, productive, healing, and beneficial. It's never too late to ask for help and together we can work together to uncover change, growth, wholeness and healing.

Formal Education and Training:

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (#T1538). I earned my Masters of Science in Couples and Family Therapy and Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Oregon.

Past experiences include serving at Morrison Child and Family Services as a community based therapist for 4 years counseling at risk youth and families experiencing a wide range of concerns from suicidal ideation, self-harm, homelessness, substance use, hospitalization, divorce, abuse/neglect and trauma within the family system. I saw families directly in their home and gained hands on experience working in crisis intervention. I worked another 4 years at ADHD Child and Family Services primarily serving teens, adults and couples suffering from Anxiety, Depression, bullying, infidelity, communication concerns, divorce and trauma. I also have a history of facilitating The Incredible Years parenting group. I am committed to a continual pursuit of new techniques, theories, and information that I may learn through continuing education courses and independent reading/research.

Payment for Services:

My fee is $150 for a clinical hour (50 minutes). Payment is made upfront for each session by check or credit card on file. I am in network with Providence, Aetna, Pacific Source and United Healthcare. For out-of-network patients, I am able to provide receipts for you to submit to your insurance company for out-of-network reimbursement. Limited sliding scale options are available based on need and availability. All appointments will be charged as stated above unless cancellation is made with a 24-hour notice of your scheduled appointment or there has been an agreed-upon emergency related to cancellation.

A Bit More Personal:

I’ve lived in Oregon my entire life and am deeply connected to its natural beauty. I spend most of my time with my husband and am a mom to my 1.5 year daughter and two cats. I also love photography, hiking, running, yoga, watching movies and spending time with family and friends. Family is so important to us and we spend most of our weekends with grandparents and siblings. I was a competitive gymnast growing up and still consider it to be my favorite sport. We love to travel the world, try new foods and explore as a family.
